Thief!

I was reading a message board for EverQuest. Someone reported a possible bug - they had a trader set up in the bazaar and sold three items for 1000pp (platinum pieces) each, but when they looked at their inventory they only had 2100pp. Somehow they came up 900pp short.

Another poster suggested the rogues were loose in the bazaar picking pockets.

That reminded me of the old "Might & Magic BBS" game. No one knew what the security and alarms systems wre for. They just figured it was a waste of money. However, there was an option to attempt to steal from other users, but it would end your turns for the day. I would always try to steal from the others after I'd finished everything else I wanted to do. Since they all had the basic security and alarms, it was very easy to walk off with a hefty share of their funds.

I think Todd in particular was furious when he finally found out were all his money was going.

Ah, those were the days. M&M was a great game, even if the SysOp was...wierd.

Conference

I just found out this morning that the co-worker that was also planning to go to the conference, won't be able to go. I'll be on my own. I'm not an experienced traveler. Well, I've flown a few times with Paula, and I went to the conference last year; but I'm a little nervous travelling that far away all on my own. It should still be fun though. I'll have to force myself to talk to more people, since I won't know anyone there.

I'll keep you all informed. (All two of you?)

Vaca-- er, I mean business trip

Last year I went to a conference in Las Vegas. This year I get to go to the same conference, but it is in Los Angeles. I head out Sunday and return Thursday evening. Should be lots of fun! I mean, it should be very informative....

Don't worry, I'll post pics. If you are lucky, I'll have some live updates from the "left coast."

Kids with cameras

What do you get when your nearly five-year-old nephew gets ahold of your camera? Other than an ulcer from watching him run around with an expensive piece of electronic gear... you get close-ups of the carpet, your TV, the refrigerator, the carpet again, the cats running away, people's legs and feet, even more close-ups of the carpet, and plenty of other interesting snap-shots.

I figure he took about 150 pictures in a half-hour period. The flash went off each time, and when I got it back the camera was getting pretty warm.

I've upload several of them to flickr. He's getting better, many of them were pretty well-centered. A couple turned out real well.
